EDITORIAL: This multidisciplinary collaboration opens a dialogue about our immense electronic waste
2200 is a collaborative project taking the audience on a trip to the year 2200, where a small group of women reside inside an electronics landfill. The women adorn themselves with the e-waste surrounding them, finding beauty in a dystopian world.
For 2220, creator Luisa Popovic uses art and beauty to talk about the constantly growing sites of electronic waste landfills using various media. Having carefully selected a team made of a diverse array of artists, including Nails by Juan, and Kreayshawn’s first music release under her more art-based name KRYSHWN, Popovic wanted each collaborator to add their own interpretation using their unique skillsets and preferred artistic medium. And to add yet another disciplinary layer, there will be a live art installation in Soho, NY at one of WallPlay On Canal’s gallery spaces, opening September 5th 2019.
