Depicted against a simple red background, Christopher Soeder’s portraits show barbershop clients directly after having their hair cut, still wearing the shop’s distinctive striped gowns. Through the identical format of each portrait, Soeder highlights the way in which a communal space, like a barbershop, temporarily connects men from all different walks of life. “I find it particularly interesting how these people are all very different yet form a community at the same time,” he says.
