EDITORIAL: A visually visceral take on mental health, Anna Priakhina renders images of isolation and ignorance with hair creations by Dmitriy Ambramovich
What’s the problem with invalidation? The fact that a person, with their confusion, anger, misunderstanding, fear, is ignored. The message they receive remains the same: “It doesn’t matter how you feel. It is embarrassing to feel it. Stop it now.”
Invalidation, over time, harms the brain and nervous system, and results in the disintegration of healthy bonds of connection—a dissolution of trust in others.
