LOCKDOWN TALES: Joey George allows us to take a look inside his visual diary and shares his most recent collage series

As the lockdown goes on, we continue to share the various creative projects that our community work on while being in isolation. Today we’re taking a look at hair artist and session stylist Joey George’s visual diary. Like many hair creatives, Joey George’s approach to hair starts with an idea, but instead of reaching for the nearest hairbrush, he likes to develop his ideas first by filling the pages of his journals with sketches, paintings, photos and collages. “The best thing about creating this new form of artwork is that I am still creating visual references all by using my scissors. It’s 2D hairdressing and these are my paper dolls!”
In this recent collage series, he focuses on upcycling and reworking hairstyles he had done for previous shoots. The hair is translated into a new setting, a new feeling, and as George told us previously, it is this very process that allows him to indulge those artistic visions of his that aren’t always appropriate for the jobs.
