EDITORIAL: Nuit Ablaze 夜の炎上. Hair pieces are burnt, melted and frozen to resemble organic rock formations

The Carlsbad Caverns, one of the world’s oldest cave systems with their enormous stalactites and stalagmites were the main inspiration for texturing and shaping the hair pieces in Nuit Ablaze 夜の炎上. Extensions were meticulously formed by slowly heating up the surface with an open / directed flame and subsequently structured the shapes into organic abstractions. The finishing dripping effect was “frozen” by multiple layers of dyed liquid resin that lent the gritty hairstyles a fluidic feel.
