“The expression of beauty through hairstyles has a long tradition in black culture.
Hair as a form of self-expression and creativity, but also, hair as a place of joy, of resistance; a site where we can break standard stereotypes of identity.
We create our own canons of beauty and self-empowerment.
This project is a tribute to that beauty, its endless textures and hairstyles from traditional to more contemporary, to entirely new forms of identity and cultural expression.”
